New Job!

Well, I went for an interview today for a company that works with adults with behavioral health issues, and after I filled out all the paperwork and answered a few questions, I was HIRED! Only part time though, which is good because otherwise I'm far too busy with school and my other job, but finally! It's about frigging TIME! (no job search frustration in that statement whatsoever, lol). They also didn't hire me at their minimum wage, which was pleasantly surprising, but hey, I'm not one to complain. :)

Also, rocking the deadmau5 today. I am in such a good mood and these tunes are perfect... :)

Music Tastes...

I find it funny that, as we age, our music tastes evolve (or, at least, mine did.)
You know, I can't quite recall what type of music I was actually really "into" when I was younger...I started listening to "classic rock" and country however quite early, because that was what my parents were into. Out of those two choices, I only listen to the good stuff now though; Pink Floyd, Boston, Queen, Fleetwood Mac, AC/DC, ZZ Top, Journey...the list goes on.
Music that I began listening to myself was a little lighter in fare, and my parents were open-minded enough to let me listen to basically whatever I wanted, which was stuff like DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince, lol, as well as what was considered "pop" back then.
Then I started listening to Adam Sandler albums; that was a phase that didn't last too long, haha, and then soon after I started listening to metal and have just recently gotten into techno and trance. So...what types of tunes do you listen to?

Finally, procrastination over!

I'm finally getting my butt in gear and getting this homework of mine done (it was due yesterday, haha, but the school I'm going through doesn't really seem to be all that harsh on dates) and I've got some job-related things to take care of later on today, plus I have tonight off! House and Castle, HELL YES. :)

Procrastination

Definitely a problem for me. Need to catch up on some homework and attempt to get some sleep, but I currently find myself typing this blog out and listing to Dimmu Borgir's newest album, ABRAHADABRA instead.   (For the record, it's not a bad album. I like it more than their last offering, In Sorte Diaboli, but it's not nearly as good as Death Cult Armageddon. Just my humble opinion.)

So, for any fellow procrastinators out there, what do you do to put things off until you can avoid it no more...?

Dead Space: Martyr (book review)

I first saw this book on the Visceral Games' merch webpage, and at 416 pages, this books is definitely no pushover.

It tells the story behind Unitology, or to be more precise the story of Unitology's founder, Michael Altman. It begins when people end up finding a pulse signature from the middle of a crater in the ocean, and goes from there. If you have any experience with the Dead Space series at all, you know it can't be good, and it isn't, as members of a scientific/military team find the Black Marker in the dead center of the crater. From there, all Hell breaks loose.

I bought the book online through Amazon Kindle ($9.99) and so far it's been a pretty fast-paced read. If you're a fan of Dead Space or of the Survival-Horror Game genre, check it out.

Some new developments...

Well, I have received a job interview offer, which is pretty cool. It's working with special needs kids, which I've never done before and have had no experience in, but I need to get some mental health experience somewhere, so this would be a good place to start. Also looking at working at my local DA's office...going to check that out today.

"Payment Protection" Fees: Let's scam you out of money you can't afford to pay!

First off, these examples are no one's fault but my own. A certain credit card company (or the two I canceled PP on today) like to pull a fast one on people, and finally I said I had enough. Both charged me, up to this point, 120.00 each minimum every month. However, their minimum payment is just INTEREST. That's all it is. It's not including the 50-60 dollars each in fees I'm  constantly racking up, and if I can't pay that extra amount, along with my interest, up goes the bill!

Yes, I realize that this is probably common knowledge, and that it probably wasn't all that bright of me to continue to have this payment protection on these cards. What irritates me is that they actively play on a person's fears of becoming unemployed or out of work for other reasons, and then go after them like sharks out for blood. I'm sure I'm not the only one who's done this, and I'm certain I won't be the last. :(
